Gabrielle Lis joins RTWMatters from the beach at Wilson's Prom

Gabrielle Lis
Gabrielle Lis joined Return to Work Matters in October 2008, while in the throes of the final months of an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Melbourne.

Previously torn between two careers, in taking up the position of Assistant Editor here she has at last managed to combine her professional passions: writing and public policy advocacy.

Several years ago Gabrielle graduated from the University of Wollongong with a BA (Hons) / BCA in Creative Writing and Politics. After taking six months out to travel the world, she moved to Sydney and worked in Higher Education Publishing, before relocating to Tasmania to work with the Tasmanian Parliamentary Greens.

Gabrielle’s time with the Greens – and in particular their campaign to stop the Tamar Valley Pulp Mill –  afforded her a close-up view of the interactions between business, government and grass roots advocacy which she hopes will one day provide inspiration for the Great Australian Novel she’s got up her sleeve.

In the meantime, she’s excited to be working for Return to Work Matters: an organisation focused on good policy and good outcomes for workers.
